Seven held for gambling

June 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Seven persons who were allegedly playing three-card game in two cars at Vanasthalipuram were caught by the Special Operations Team (East) of Cyberabad police on Sunday. The police seized an Innova car, a Scorpio, Rs. 89,940 cash and 7 cell phones from them.

The organiser, C.C. Anjaneyulu (45) of Vanasthalipuram, invited six persons to participate in the gambling. As police are keeping a close watch on gambling activities in apartment buildings, he started organising it at isolated places on the city outskirts.

“Anjaneyulu would take all the participants in the cars to city outskirts. The vehicles would be parked at an isolate place and the gambling would begin. Occasionally, he would change locations to avoid getting caught,” SOT Inspector, N. Ch. Ranga Swamy said. On a tip off, the police laid a trap and nabbed them. Those caught were handed over to Vanasthalipuram police.

In a separate case, the SOT team caught six persons at Ibrahimpatnam on the charge of playing three-card game.
