Senior BJP leader faults Rythu Bandhu

‘Scheme has spelt agony for farmers’

Several farmers have suffered mental agony and are even contemplating suicide due to large scale mistakes in the land record purification process, said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive member Yendala Laxminarayana at a meeting here on Wednesday. In many farmer families, mistakes in records have caused rifts, he added.

He alleged that officials resorted to fraud to transfer lands from genuine farmers by taking bribe. In Kandakurthi, officers attempted to show 50 acres bearing the survey number 327, 437, and 523 belonging to some farmers who had been cultivating it as waqf land, he said.

With the mistakes in land records, the purpose of Rythu Bandhu scheme is not being met, he said, adding real farmers who have been cultivating small holdings have not got any assistance.

Party State executive member D. Suryanarayana, Bharath Bhushan, Y. Sudhakar, Mallesh Yadav and Roshanlal Bora were present at the meeting.
