Search on at dumping yard for missing women

November 25, 2011 02:34 pm | Updated 02:34 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Searches continued for the second consecutive day on Thursday at Jawaharnagar dumping yard in Alwal for the three women who were feared buried alive under the heaps of garbage.

The women, Sattemma, Andalu and Kanakamma, who live by collecting scrap, went to the yard three days and didn't return home. Their family members believe the women died after the mounds of garbage from the top slid and fell over them. On learning about the incident, the police of Kushaiguda and Alwal in Cyberabad began searching for the women from Wednesday.

They resumed the searches from Thursday morning with three JCB machines as manually searching the dumping yard was not only risky but also difficult.

Alwal ACP, Ganesh Reddy, and the GHMC officials supervised the searches which were stopped late in the evening. “Efforts to locate them would continue from Friday morning,” Mr. Reddy said.
