SCR had detected 3.37 lakh cases of ticketless travel and un-booked luggage in May, which helped realise an amount of ₹11.78 crore as fare and penalty. While ticket checking campaigns are being conducted to prevent anti-social elements from recurrent ticketless travel and curb unauthorised hawking in trains, it has also launched 45 special magisterial drives to prosecute habitual offenders.
As part of the drive 1,458 persons have been prosecuted, realising an amount of ₹ 2.89 lakh as fines from magisterial drives. Within Hyderabad Division and between Manorabad and Shadnagar stations as bases, 179 persons were apprehended for travelling without tickets and 12 passengers were found travelling with excess un-booked luggage realising a total of ₹ 54,095 as fare and penalty. Seven persons were also prosecuted during the checks held on Friday last, an official spokesperson informed.
