The Cyber Crime police of the Cyberabad police on Monday arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in cheating a school teacher from Gachibowli of Rs. 18.11 lakh on pretext of delivery a gift containing cash of 1.4 thousand pounds.

The victim came in contact with one, Kelvin Wynne, who introduced himself as a UK-based geologist, through Facebook in March. Wynne proposed to marry the school teacher and said that he would be coming to India to discuss the issue with her parents. He told the woman that he was sending a parcel and a few gifts for her use and asked her to collect it, Inspector Mohammed Riyazuddin said. Another person, Chris Kennedy called up the woman posing as a manager of Skybird Express Courier Service, Mumbai, and told her that the parcel was held up at the customs office. Two other women called her up introducing themselves as officials from the Customs Department and the Reserve Bank of India and made her deposit Rs. 18.11 lakh in various bank accounts towards charges of delivery, Mr. Riyazuddin added. The woman grew suspicious as the fraudsters were demanding more money and approached the police. Based on the details of bank transactions, the police nabbed Ani Jonh Ibuchi (36) and Bilal Khan Ahmed Khan Deshmukh from Mumbai.

The police said that Bilal collected ATM cards of various persons and passed on the bank account details to Ani John Ibuchi and withdrew the money. He was paid a 10 per cent commission for the job, the police said. Efforts are being made to apprehend the absconding persons.
