The State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has made certain amendments to the existing scheme of compassionate appointment with prospective effect after reviewing the scheme keeping in view the orders of the High Court, Hyderabad, dated March 16, 2017.
A Division Bench of the Hyderabad High Court in March last year struck down a circular issued by the SCCL in December 2016 to provide employment to dependent persons of the employees covered by the National Coal Wage Agreement (NCWA) on compassionate grounds under the voluntary retirement scheme (health reasons).
The Bench set aside the circular while hearing a writ petition filed by an unemployed youth of Godavarikhani, who challenged the circular intended to allow the NCWA employees to retire from service in consideration of employment to their male dependents. After thoroughly reviewing the scheme, the SCCL management has issued a latest circular dated March 9, 2018.
According to the amendments, compassionate appointment shall be provided to the dependents of the employees who become medically invalid as per rules apart from those employees who die while in service, SCCL sources said.
Legally adopted sons of the employees, female dependents and differently-abled dependents, who are employable, will also be considered for compassionate appointment henceforth.
While the eligible male dependents will be considered for Badli worker (underground) posts, the female dependents and differently abled dependents will be considered for Badli worker (surface) posts as per the amendments made to the existing scheme.
