Secunderabad Cantonment Board will meet on Monday to discuss State government lands in its area. The board is also expected to discuss building permits given on a large tract of land which Hyderabad district administration has recently claimed is the State property given away illegally to some private persons.
According to SCB sources, the meeting was scheduled to discuss ‘B2’ lands, to know about the status of lands and acquaint elected members of the new board with issues concerning such lands. The board is also expected to discuss land with General Land Registry record number 243, which is said to be the State government land that was given away to private persons. The SCB had sanctioned building permits on the land last year. The entire extent of land under GLR 243 is 119.8 acres. The layout is only sanctioned for a relatively small area.
Hyderabad Collector suspended Trimulgherry Tehsildar last Monday for failing to protect GLR 243. A letter was also sent to SCB CEO asking for revoking building permits given for the layout.
“Many of us are not aware of the whereabouts of such lands and what their status. The allegation of the State government land in the possession of private persons has shocked us. The meeting will also discuss the future course of action for GLR 243. Before the board can take action, it has to clearly know about the land,” a ward member said.
There are 130 State government properties classified as ‘B2’ lands in Secunderabad Cantonment. SCB CEO Sujatha Gupta and Defence Estates Officer, who maintains the GLR records, met Hyderabad Collector last Friday to apprise the latter about State government lands in cantonment.
The issue of building permits given on a large tract of land which reportedly is State property will also be discussed
