SCB master plan to provide blueprint on water supply

September 11, 2014 12:48 am | Updated July 12, 2016 03:56 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) is in the process of coming up with a master plan for its drinking water pipelines, that will seek to provide a blueprint to residents on every aspect of water supply.

This is not all; shortly the board will also introduce online services that will enable customers to pay water bills, apply for new water connections and maintain customer records through its websites. Apart from the traditional form of billing, customers will also get SMS alerts on their water bills, SCB officials said.

The water department of SCB will soon set up charts and boards in all the colonies to provide information about every aspect of drinking water supply to customers. The charts will contain information on the nearest pump house, timings and duration of water being released to colonies, essential phone numbers of officers and even the amount of pressure at which the drinking water is supplied.

The SCB has also completed the exercise of data entry of customer information. “The moment a customer enters the Unique Customer Number (UCN), the website will start displaying the entire history of drinking water consumption. Colony name, which pump house, source of water pipelines, tariffs and other details will be available. This service will be available online very soon,” says Superintendent (Water), SCB, M. Rajkumar.

Grievance redressal

Under the Master Plan, SCB officials point out that they want to streamline and bring down the time to address customer grievances to just two days. Attempts are also being made to stop customers visit to the SCB head office in Secunderabad to lodge grievances. In this direction, individual pump houses falling under SCB will now have registers, wherein customers can enter their grievance for redressal.

“We have already ordered for preparation of these water pipeline charts for colonies in SCB. Between September 3 and 6, we have completed the huge data entry process wherein all the UCN numbers of our SCB customers were collected and fed into the computer database. Almost all SCB employees in the head office were roped in for data entry work,” Mr. Rajkumar pointed out.
