A Sudanese national who was trying to smuggle 44 kg of sandalwood chips was detained by sleuths of the Central Industrial Security Force at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here on Saturday. This is the third case of sandalwood smuggling from Hyderabad to Jeddah by air in the last one week.

Accused Farha Hassan Suliman Eldawy was scheduled to fly by Saudia SV 755 to Jeddah when she was detained around 12.50 p.m.

Constable Rakesh Kumar profiled the passenger while entering the international departure gate and got suspicious of her conduct and took her to screen her bags in Random XBIS, an officer said.

“During XBIS screening our officers observed suspicious image and upon physical check, we found 44 kg of sandalwood chips in two bags,” he said.

Ms. Farha, along with the seized chips, was handed over to the Customs officials for investigation.
