GHMC Commissioner M. Dana Kishore in a meeting on Monday asked the field-level officials to work towards sanitation goals as outlined by the ‘Saaf Hyderabad - Shandaar Hyderabad’ programme, to spruce up the city in 100 days.

The programme will begin from May 1 with target deadlines to be achieved by the circle level officials. For the implementation, a cluster of 2,500 households will be considered a unit across the 150 wards.

A community resource person would be deployed for each cluster to take action on 18 identified fronts. The aspects identified include, door-to-door garbage collection, source segregation, establishment of compost units, removal of blue bins and garbage vulnerable points, removal of construction debris, controlling littering roads, open plots, lakes and drains, action against burning of waste, control of open urination and defecation.

Mr. Dana Kishore asked the officials to take help from local volunteers in spreading the message.

In another review meeting, he expressed dissatisfaction at the progress of works pertaining to clearing of storm water drains, and asked officials to expedite the tenders and finish the work by May-end.
