Telangana State Road Transport Corporation chairman Somavarapu Satyanarayana hopes to check losses by using technology to bring in more efficiency in the corporation’s functioning and help steer it into profit path.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Satyanarayana said TSRTC passengers will soon be able to book tickets through T-Wallet, a comprehensive platform for digital payments developed by the State government. “The facility will be launched by IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao,” he said, adding that everyday around 6,000 people book tickets online.

He said seven-seater autorickshaws and other private passenger vehicles are the biggest competitors for the corporation. “Our expenditure is ₹14 crore per day and we generate only ₹11 crore daily, and despite tough competition from autos, maxis, seven-seater, we are running the corporation in an effective way,” he added.
