An RTC bus driver was arrested on the charge of raping a woman on the pretext of providing her a job.

According to the Medipally police, the accused, Somashekar, befriended the victim last year and assured her of a job. The victim’s husband, a former RTC employee, died in 2013.

The accused provided the victim with a fake ID card and salary slip and told her that she had bagged a job. He then offered her a box of sweets, laced with sedatives. When the victim fell unconscious, he allegedly raped her.

The police registered a case and arrested Somashekar on Tuesday.
