As many as six drivers of TSRTC Khammam region with decades-long safe driving record were felicitated at a function held to mark Drivers’ Day here on Thursday.

V. Babu, a driver who has put in more than 30 years of service and presently working in Sattupalli depot, was adjudged the best driver in the entire region for maintaining accident-free driving record. Among others felicitated were Sharif, Yakub, Satyam, Moinuddin and Venkateshwarlu.

They were presented appreciation certificates by the officials concerned in the presence of TSRTC Regional Manager S.V.G. Krishnamurthy and In-charge District Transport Officer, Khammam, B. Shankar Naik.

The TSRTC staff members, leaders of various trade unions and others were present.

Speaking on the occasion, the TSRTC officials lauded the drivers for maintaining a distinguished track record of safe driving in strict adherence to road safety rules.

They called upon other staff members to draw inspiration from them and strive to excel in their designated duties.

Earlier in the day, the TSRTC officials greeted all bus drivers and conductors at the bus depot on the occasion of Drivers’ Day.

The TSRTC employees took out a rally from the bus depot to Mayuri Centre and formed a human chain at Pavilion Grounds spreading the message of safe driving practices.
