In a case of revenge murder, a 41-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was hacked to death by five members of a family at Nagarjuna circle in Punjagutta here on Sunday. Three accused were arrested by the police.

The victim, Riyasath Ali Razvi, was an accused in the murder of his close friend and auto driver Mohammed Anwar, who was killed on June 27. It was only on October 10 that Razvi was released on bail from the Chanchalguda Central Prison.

“On Sunday morning around 9 a.m. Anwar’s son Mohammed Azhar (19), his brother Abdul Rahman (40) and their relative Abdul Aleem attacked Razvi with sickles near a tea stall in the area. Soon he was rushed to Gandhi hospital, where doctors declared him dead,” police said.

Two other accused — Syed Amjad (22) and Mohammed Hasan (20) — are still at large.

“It is a clear case of revenge murder and the entire police department in the city swung into action and nabbed the accused in a record time,” said Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar.
