Mild tension prevailed at Rampuram thanda in Julurupadu mandal when a group of aggrieved tribal people staged a rasta roko and tried to block the vehicle of Wyra MLA B. Madan Lal demanding laying of a road in the village.
Sources said that the villagers mostly comprising women staged a massive demonstration demanding laying of a road between the village and a neighbouring hamlet.
They reportedly made an abortive attempt to block the vehicle of the Member of Legislative Assembly.
Commotion prevailed for a while when they raised slogans denouncing the alleged apathy of the departments concerned towards their long-pending demand for the road.
The police intervened and dispersed the demonstrators.
