Researcher, two detectives held for snooping on minor

A junior research fellow with the DRDO and two private detectives were arrested by the Rachakonda police for allegedly snooping on an Intermediate girl, who the former was interested in.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat said that D. Mahesh Kumar (23) of Triveni Nagar Colony in Balapur approached a private detective agency to get information about a minor girl from Chaitanyapuri, whom he was interested in marrying. The detectives were identified as Chikka Kiran Kumar (39) from Kothapet and Bathula Suhasini (33) of Saroornagar.

The duo posed as the parents of Mahesh and went to the college where the girl is pursuing her Intermediate education, to check on her ‘character’ and background, Mr Bhagwat said, and added that they were also stalking the girl regularly.

“Once, to check her character the detective made gestures with sexual intent, but she did not respond,” the officer said.

The college management informed the girl’s parents about two people visiting their college and inquiring about their daughter. Following which, the teenager’s father lodged a complaint and the trio were arrested by the police. “It is illegal to gather the information of a minor girl without the consent of her parents,” the commissioner said.
