Special Chief Secretary (Planning) to Telangana government, B.P. Acharya, urged chief planning officers and divisional deputy statistical officers to use the Samagra Kutumba Survey (intensive household survey) data for district-level planning, and called it a virtual goldmine of information.

He addressed the officials during a training camp for orientation and capacity building at the Centre for Telangana Studies (CTS), Dr. MCR HRD Institute on Thursday.

Mr. Acharya, who designed the training module, said there was a need to reorient the field staff to the aspirations of the people of Telangana in the context of district reorganisation, and assured them that similar workshops will be held at district level too.

Additional Director General, Telangana State Remote Sensing Application Centre, G.S. Reddy said, asset mapping across the State will be of great help in generating authentic data for planning developmental activities and their concurrent monitoring.

UNICEF consultant Nelson Royal praised the Telangana government’s initiative towards boosting sheep rearing and fisheries. Over 100 officials attended the workshop.
