It was a queue with a difference at the Gymkhana Ground on Thursday.

Fans from different parts of the State who had purchased tickets for the October T-20 international match between India and Australia had turned up in large numbers seeking refund of the money after the match was abandoned without even a single ball being bowled.

Brushing aside the disappointment of the cancellation of the match, the fans were pretty happy that there was some method in the whole process of refund, which would be on till October 28.

Sudheer Reddy, senior manager of EventsNow, informed The Hindu that 15% of the total tickets were sold in retail, totalling about 5,000 of all denominations, and only those were the ones being refunded at the counters at Gymkhana.

“All that we look for from the fans is filling up a simple form listing out their name, bank account number and IFSC code, their telephone number, besides producing the counter-foils of the ticket,” Mr. Sudheer said.

“This process will continue till October 28 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, at the Gymkhana Ground,” he said.

Money would be refunded to the accounts of those who opted for this within 15 days after the last day for accepting the refund requisitions.

It was also clarified that those who bought tickets online, the EventsNow ensured the money was refunded straightaway back into the their accounts and there was no need for them to complete any formality.

“Yes, it is definitely a loss for us since the match was abandoned. But again, we are more keen on building a brand image with the cricket fans who were even more disappointed,” Mr. Sudheer said.
