The Congress party has strongly condemned the proposed rationalisation of government schools and said it would lead to closure of 4,637 government schools.
Congress spokesperson Konagala Mahesh termed rationalisation as a conspiracy by the Government to close down the schools and take over the land for the proposed double bedroom houses. At a press conference here, he demanded that the government take back the rationalisation decision as it would impact thousands of students in rural areas and hit the government education sector.
Mr. Mahesh also alleged that if the schools were closed all the 6,109 teachers in those schools would be transferred to other schools thus reducing the number of vacancies. Lakhs of those eagerly waiting for the DSC notification and these numbers would be automatically deducted from the total vacancies. “This is cheating the youngsters waiting for jobs.”
Mr. Mahesh said that the intention was also to promote corporatisation of school education and promote private schools for commissions. “We have opposed the same earlier and we will continue to do so,” he said.
