Rains predicted for 3 days from Monday

Influence of a cyclone formation

Widespread rains of light to moderate intensity are predicted for three days, starting from Monday in Telangana. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre’s Director Y.K. Reddy predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in North and Eastern Telangana on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

In its special weather forecast bulletin for the festival, the official attributed the south west monsoon active in Telangana to influence of a cyclonic circulation over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, and Bay of Bengal.

“Wet days are very likely around Ganesh festival with one or two spells of moderate rain in Hyderabad city too. Public and the organisers are advised to be cautious in their arrangements at pandals, temples, etc.,” Mr Reddy suggested.

Rain in city

Rains lashed several parts of the city on Sunday early evening leading to water logging on roads. Being a Sunday, traffic was less. However, people had to be cautious while driving or walking as roads in some parts of the city were only partly visible due to overflowing or stagnant water.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s Monsoon Emergency Teams and Disaster Response Force teams were pressed into action to clear the issue. The team members partly lifted manhole covers to clear water from roads, and later closed them.

The stagnant water was cleared in some parts of Madhapur, Madinaguda, Chandanagar, Uppal, CTO Junction, Yosufnagar, Boudhnagar, Sanathnagar, Ramnagar in Musheerabad, Bholakpur, and other places. A tree fall was reported in Kondapur locality. Most part of Sunday morning was cloudy and it started to drizzle from afternoon which continued till late evening. In fact, it drizzled throughout Saturday night.
