Rain, thunderstorm forecast

Sunday sees a considerable drop in maximum day temperatures

The India Meteorological Department has warned of rain and thunderstorm over the 24 hours while rainfall is forecast on most days of the week.

Maximum day temperatures lowered considerably on Sunday compared to previous week in the State. While Hyderabad recorded 37.3 degrees Celsius, Ramagundam recorded the highest maximum of 41.6 degrees.

The temperatures lowered by about three degrees in most parts of the State.

On Saturday all districts in the state recorded maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius while only two districts recorded over-40 degree Celsius maximum on Sunday.

The IMD has forecast monsoon rains later this week. The previous week saw pre-monsoon rainfall in several parts of the State. Compared to previous year, pre-monsoon activity in May this year has been diminished. However, weather experts say the conditions are favourable for monsoon to cover the State later this week.

According to Skymet Weather, pre-monsoon activity is likely to continue for the next few days with an accompanying decrease in day temperature.

A cyclonic circulation over parts of Arabian Sea and a trough extending from that system up to Kerala is being attributed for the hot and humid conditions over the city as it gears up for monsoon rains.
