The city continued with its streak of wet weather on Thursday too, when heavy rain lashed parts of it starting from the afternoon, extending the travails of its residents by one more day.

Heavy downpour marked areas such as Qutbullapur, Serilingampally, Madhapur, Alwal, Keesara and others, starting from about 2.30 p.m. Though the duration of the rain had not exceeded half an hour, the intensity left several stretches flooded.

As per information from the automatic weather stations across the city, the highest rainfall of 6.4 centimetres was recorded at Qutbullapur, followed by 5.4 centimetres at Gayatrinagar of Jeedimetla.

The station at Alwal’s Venkatapuram too recorded five centimetres, while Kothabasti of Alwal, Ramachandrapuram and Madhapur received a rainfall of over four centimetres.

Kondapur, Bandlaguda, Neredmet, Kukatpally, Balanagar, Kapra, Malkajgiri and Safilguda too received copious showers.

Water-logging was reported from several stretches, and vehicles were slowed down on major thoroughfares, resulting in traffic issues on Thursday.

The stretch near Raj Bhavan and Lake View Guest House was inundated, and took time to be drained. The road leading from Punjagutta to Somajiguda too was partly water-logged.

Meteorology department has issued heavy rain warning at isolated places of Telangana on Friday too.
