The maiden visit of Minister for Railways, Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu to Hyderabad assumes significance as people expect him to make an announcement on the much awaited bifurcation of the South Central Railway (SCR) and creation of a new zone.
He will be participating in a national seminar on ‘PPP and FDI in Indian Railways’. The seminar is organised by the Centre for Transportation Research and Management (CTRAM), an autonomous body of transport professionals at the Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunication (IRISET).
Apart from Mr. Prabhu, among those who would be participating in the inaugural session are the Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, E.S.L. Narasimhan, Member-Traffic of the Railway Board, Devi Prasad Pande and General Manager, South Central Railway, P.K. Srivastava. Interestingly, representatives of the corporate sector, trade and industry will also present their views and papers on the subject of Foreign Direct Investment and Public-Private Partnership in the Railways.
Mr. Prabhu will also visit the Secunderabad railway station and flag off two new express trains announced in the Railway Budget – 2014, the Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam AC Express (weekly) and the Nanded-Aurangabad Express (weekly) via remote video link at 11 a.m. He will also interact with the media and various associations representing the interests of stakeholders including passengers, freight users and traders at the Station.
The Minister will then visit Rail Nilayam and interact with officers and railway employees’ unions. He will also call on Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at the Secretariat.
