November 20, 2015 04:34 pm | Updated 06:37 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Ragging by a third year student of Satyabhama Engineering College in Chennai allegedly drove his junior Krishna Chaitanya to commit suicide here in his house at Nizampet of Kukatpally, the police said on Friday.

Pages of a diary purportedly written by Chaitanya, a second year engineering student, stated that his senior Shekhar had been ragging and harassing him for past several days. “The victim mentioned in the diary pages that Shekhar used to draw money using the former’s bank debit card and once beat him up for using a pen drive,” the KPHB Colony Inspector V. Sreekanth Goud said.

“It is hell. All of you be good,” Chaitanya wrote. The student came to Hyderabad for Deepavali festival. He didn’t go back to the college citing some reasons. Last night, he ended his life by hanging himself to the ceiling fan in his house.

A case of ragging and abetment to suicide case was registered against Shekhar. The Police are contemplating transferring the case to police station concerned in Chennai.
