Problems of the private colleges, including the delay in fee reimbursement payments by the government, came up for discussion at a meeting held by Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, IT Minister K. T. Rama Rao and other officials with the college managements.

Mr. Srihari promised to constitute committees to look into the grievances. However, the ministers made it clear that colleges need to adhere to all the norms including fire safety.

Representatives of degree and junior colleges said that amount being released to them under fee reimbursement was very less and asked the government to consider paying their money separately. Colleges also wanted reduction in property tax for them.

The Ministers assured that they would consider. They also made it clear that government doesn’t discriminate against anyone and its effort was only to improve standards of education.
