The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is making arrangements to cover more than 5.83 lakh children in the city as part of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme on January 18. The programme would be carried out across the city from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on that day and followed with house visits from January 19 to 21 to cover children who miss the polio drops.

GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar, who held a review meeting with senior officials from the Health Department and the civic body here on Tuesday, said no polio cases were reported in the Hyderabad district for the last 16 years.
