Probationary SI in ACB net for ‘accepting bribe'

March 01, 2012 09:19 am | Updated 09:19 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A probationary Sub-Inspector of Chaitanyapuri police station, G. Srinivas, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Wednesday when he allegedly accepted Rs. 10,000 bribe from a real estate businessman facing a criminal case.

The complainant, Madhusudhan Reddy, was earlier arrested in a case of criminal intimidation and trespass registered in connection with an open plot of 100 square yards.

The SI probing the case demanded Rs. 15,000 for not including others in the case while filing charge-sheet, the ACB DSP, C.S. Venkataramana, said.

Finally, Mr. Srinivas agreed to help the real estate businessman for Rs. 10,000 and was caught soon after receiving the amount at Ashthalaxmi temple in Kothapet. A few weeks ago, the Chaitanyapuri Inspector, Praveen Reddy, was also arrested by the ACB officials on charge of amassing wealth illegally. He was suspended subsequently.

“Since SI Srinivas, belonging to 2009 batch, didn't complete probationary period, he would be dismissed from service,” senior police officials said.
