Municipal Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy on Monday admitted that the roads in the twin cities had taken a battering due to recent rains and assured to take up repair works on top priority to minimise the inconvenience to the commuters.

Mr. Reddy along with his top officers went around different parts of the city, especially Amberpet and its environs, where he noticed that many road works have been languishing without completion. He immediately ordered speedier work schedules, putting up of notice boards indicating the timelines. All the civic grievances being received by the Municipal Administration Minister K.T. Rama Rao through his officers should be sorted out with regard to road repairs, open manholes, recarpetting etc., he added. Quality control checks is a must for every work and random checks too should be done.

The GHMC Commissioner also appealed to the citizens to avail the opportunity of taking free tree saplings being made available at all ward offices, parks and nurseries as the municipal corporation has plans to plant as many as 40 lakh during the Harithaharam.
