President to attend IIT-H convocation next month

Scheduled to arrive on August 4, a day prior to the event

President Ram Nath Kovind is scheduled to arrive in the city on August 4 on a two-day visit.

He will be visiting the city in connection with the seventh convocation of IIT-H at Kandi in Sangareddy district on August 5. He will arrive at Begumpet airport on August 4 and proceed to Raj Bhavan. After a night halt at Raj Bhavan, he will leave for the convocation where he will participate as the chief guest.

Mr. Kovind is scheduled to plant saplings at Rashtrapati Nilayam at Bolarum on his way to Kandi.

Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi has convened a meeting of the senior officials to review the arrangements that should be made for the President’s visit.

Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy, officials from Army, Air Force, protocol departments in addition to secretaries of different departments participated in the meeting.

Mr. Joshi directed the officials concerned to deploy adequate security in the areas covered by the President during his visit. Steps should be taken to regulate traffic during the two days in addition to carrying out repairs on the roads on which Mr. Kovind is expected to travel.

A special drive should be conducted to ensure cleanliness and steps should be taken to set up helipads where necessary.
