‘Bandi Sanjay gaining political mileage’

TPCC working president Ponnam Prabhakar flayed the BJP government for “remaining silent on the RTC crisis even as the strike entered its 33rd day with several employees committing suicides due to unrest and unemployment.”

Talking to the media here on Thursday, he criticised Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar for moving a privilege motion against the district police on charges of manhandling him during the funeral procession of RTC driver N. Babu in Arepalli town.

“If the BJP MP was so concerned about RTC workers, why didn’t he represent them before the Lok Sabha Speaker and exert pressure on the Union government to resolve the crisis,” he questioned.

He alleged that the Karimnagar MP was using the RTC driver’s death to gain political mileage.

Reminding them that the Union government has 31 per cent share in RTC, he demanded the Central government to resolve the crisis at the earliest. He also alleged that the TRS and BJP were staging a “dope fight” like that in WWF.

Besides, he found fault with several State Ministers for “remaining silent” on the RTC strike issue. He pointed out that the then united Andhra Pradesh government did not harass any employee when they participated in ‘Sakala Janula Samme’ during the statehood movement for a separate Telangana.
