With 28 candidates to choose from, and one button to exercise their right to reject all, voters of Huzurnagar will see two ballot units along with one voter verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) in each of the polling booths when they go to vote on October 21. In a record, the Assembly constituency in the bypoll has 28 contesting candidates – 15 Independents and 13 representing various political parties. And along with ‘None of the above’ option, each booth will be equipped with two ballotting units and a VVPAT system in the voter's compartment, and a control unit with polling officials.

While there are 302 polling stations in the constituency, district election officials as on requirement on September 28, received 408 control units, 530 ballot units and 438 VVPATs from Nalgonda administration, where the equipment was last used in the general elections in May 2019.

Following publication of the list of contesting candidates by the Returning Officer on October 3, and as each ballot unit accommodates 15 candidates plus NOTA, the authority included more ballot units. After mock poll on every EVM in the First Level Check (FLC), amid officials and representatives of political parties, engineers rejected nine ballot units, eight control units and 13 VVPATs as defective. The election authority, as mandated, also conducted the software-driven first randomisation of equipment on Saturday.

In all, District Election Officer D. Amoy Kumar got transported 400 control units, 1,453 ballot units and 425 VVPATs on Sunday. A second randomisation of the EVMs, just before setting of candidates in the ballot, will be done at Huzurnagar, after which the equipment will be ready for allocation to specific polling stations.
