Continuing its crackdown on history-sheeters and chain-snatchers, the city police invoked Prevention of Dangerous (PD) Activities of Goondas Act 1986 against five ‘criminals’ on Wednesday.

The PD Act was invoked against Mohd. Asad (23) and Shaik Obaid (25) Kalapathar.

A history sheet was made against both of them at Kalapather police station. While Asad was allegedly involved in seven cases, including three attempt-to-murder cases, Obaid was allegedly involved in 17 cases.

“Asad and Obaid are associates of notorious criminal Ayub Khan and have spread a sense of fear in Old City. They are on loggerheads with the members of Khaisar gang and creating problems for citizens,” DCP (south) V. Satyanarayana said.

The police also invoked PD Act against three chain-snatchers Mohd. Ahmeduddin Siddqui alias Ahmad (24) and Mohd. Mohammed Sharief alias Chotu (21) both staying at Madannapet and Puligila Laxman (45) of Santoshnagar were resorting to snatching and stealing gold chains from women, the police said.
