Parents blame in-laws for woman’s death

A native of Hanamkonda, Thirumalagiri Swathi, has died under suspicious circumstances in London.

However, her parents and relatives accused her husband Rajesh, a software engineer, and in-laws Srinivas and Vijaya of murdering her.

The parents and relatives of Swathi staged a protest in front of the house of Rajesh in Machli Bazar in Hanamkonda and expressed their anger.

According to the relatives, Swathi and Rajesh got married on November 4, 2016. During the time of marriage, ₹35 lakh was given as dowry. At that time, Rajesh was working in Singapore.

Later he got employed in London and the couple shifted there. Rajesh’s parents and his sister are also living along with them.

Swathi’s parents said she was harassed for additional dowry ever since they moved to London. She used to complain of harassment everyday both mentally and physically.

On October 2, she spoke to her parents and said she was unable to live there and expressed her wish to come back to India.

On Wednesday they got information from Swathi’s husband that she fell into the sea and was admitted in a hospital. Later at night he informed them that she had died.

The relatives appealed to the state government and the Centre to help them bring back the body and initiate action against the husband and in-laws.
