Owaisi vows to root out Congress, BJP from Telangana

Criticises fraud in public sector banks; MIM to contest Karnataka elections

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi said that his party would work towards rooting out the BJP and Congress from Telangana.

Speaking on Friday at the 60th anniversary of the AIMIM’s revival at the party headquarters in Darussalaam, where he was joined by legislators, functionaries and supporters, the Hyderabad parliamentarian said that its rivals have no future in the State. “We want to tell them clearly, in the next elections we will make sure that the BJP loses the Secunderabad Parliament seat. You will also lose the Musheerabad, Goshamahal, and Khairatabad (Assembly) seats. You will lose everything,” he said.

Mr. Owaisi said that if general elections are conducted within the next two or three months, his party is ready to contest. Challenging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to dissolve the Parliament, he said, “If the Prime Minister wants to do it, we welcome it. If elections are held, the PM should organise 10 public meetings in Hyderabad. And despite this, Hindus, Muslims, Dalits and Christians will make MIM victorious by over two lakh votes.”

Criticising the spate of frauds in public sector banks, Mr. Owaisi said that the Prime Minister’s claim of ‘Na khaaoonga, na khaane doonga‘ is hollow. “They are doing this right under your nose and they are fleeing,” he said.

Both Asaduddin Owaisi and his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi dedicated portions of their speeches to refuting allegations that the party has split votes in other States, which has worked in favour of the BJP. “Those who allege can continue to do so, I am not worried,” the Hyderabad parliamentarian said, adding that the party would contest in the upcoming Karnataka elections.

Mr. Owaisi also promised that the Hyderbabad Metro Rail will chug into the Old City and that the corridor will be extended from Falaknuma metro station to the airport. He also assured that the concerns of hawkers displaced by the Charminar Pedestrianisation Project would be addressed soon.

Adilabad Special Correspondent adds:

AIMIM cadre celebrated the party’s foundation day by hoisting the party flag at the party office in Bokkalguda. AIMIM Adilabad town president Md. Farooq addressed a public meeting and demanded three years of jail for those who accuse Muslims in India of being Pakistani supporters. He also decried the delay in resolution of the Ayodhya dispute even 25 years after Babri Masjid demolition.
