Over 41L voters set to exercise franchise

A total of 41,62,215 voters may exercise their franchise in the two parliamentary constituencies of the city for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 11, said GHMC Commissioner and the district election officer M. Dana Kishore at a meeting with political party representatives on Tuesday.

Efforts are being made to increase polling percentage, he added.

Ninety-two EVM awareness teams are being deployed to increase awareness about casting vote through the electronic voting machines. A total of 374 flying squad teams, 42 static surveillance teams, 42 video surveillance teams, 14 video viewing teams, and 14 accounting teams have been constituted for smooth conduct of polls.

Claims and objections received till March 15 will be considered as the office needs at least a week to scrutinise the applications.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Dana Kishore conducted a meeting with the printing press managements in the city, and cautioned them against taking up election banners, posters and other works without permission.
