The Karimnagar Commissionerate of Police has deployed over 1,000 police personnel for ensuring peaceful Ganesha immersion procession in various parts of the town on Wednesday. A total of 125 CCTV cameras would also be used to monitor the procession.

Disclosing this to newsmen here on Tuesday, Commissioner of Police V.B. Kamalasan Reddy said they have made necessary arrangements at immersion spots – Manakondur tank, Kothapalli tank and Chintakunta canal – on the outskirts of the town. Around 2,800 idols would be immersed on Wednesday and all the Ganesha pandal organisers have been asked to take out the procession from 4 p.m. onwards, he said.

CCTV cameras have been installed at the three immersion spots, he said and added that all the CCTV cameras along the procession route have been linked to the Command Control Centre for effective surveillance. He said they would also use the services of NCC and NSS volunteers for bandobust duties along the procession.

The police have also imposed traffic restrictions in various parts of the town. Vehicular traffic would be diverted on Karimnagar-Warangal route to ensure smooth idol immersion at Manakondur tank.

Additional DCP Srinivas, Karimnagar town ACP P. Ashok, Rural ACP T. Usha Vishwanath were also present. Meanwhile, Minister for BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar separately inspected immersion spots and enquired with the officials about the arrangements made for the immersion of idols.
