Medical services at all top tertiary hospitals in the capital continued to remain crippled on Tuesday even as four protesting junior doctors at Gandhi hospital were admitted to the ICU in a critical condition. Gandhi hospital, the epicentre of the protests, witnessed a steady influx of political bigwigs from opposition parties. There was no hint of talks, as junior doctors and government officials decided to stick to their guns.
One of the protesting junior doctor, who was on an indefinite hunger strike for past one week, was persuaded by president of YSR Congress Party, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy to break the fast. The YSR Congress Party president criticised the government for not responding to the just demands of the junior doctors.
The TRS party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao along with other TRS leaders including Padma Rao also met the striking junior doctors.
“The demands raised by you are very genuine and the government will have to listen to your demands. We are with you in this fight,” Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao assured.
Meanwhile, medical services at Osmania and Gandhi General Hospital, Niloufer Hospital remained affected on Tuesday.
