Olympic body gets recognition

May 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The newly-elected Olympic Association of Telangana with K. Ranga Rao as president and S.R. Prem Raj as general secretary got a shot in the arm with the Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) according its recognition. This means that the Association will be formally in charge of all the affairs of the apex body of the pre-bifurcated AP Olympic Association in this region.

A letter signed by Dinakar Babu, VC & MD of SATS, on May 7 says: “Based on the report of its (SATS) observer and the recognition certificate given by the Indian Olympic Association to the OAT, the Sports Authority recognises the new body.”

This comes as a huge relief to the Ranga Rao group which is facing stiff resistance from the parallel group (Telangana Olympic Association) which elected A.P. Jitender Reddy, TRS Parliamentary Floor Leader, as president and K. Jagdishwar Yadav as general secretary, in separate elections without the mandatory IOA observer.
