A group of NSUI and Congress activists met the OU Vice-Chancellor S. Ramachandram and protested against the University’s decision not to allow any public meeting on the campus.
OUJAC spokesperson and Congress leader M. Krishnak said that the Vice-Chancellor was questioned about the decision and asked to take back the orders. He said the decision was taken with pressure from the government in view of the proposed public meeting by the AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi in a couple of months.
Mr. Krishank said several student groups invite various leaders for discussions on student issues and what was the problem if the NSUI activists invite Mr. Rahul Gandhi. He reminded that it was the students’ agitation that created Telangana and when there were no such restrictions why is the Vice-Chancellor imposing new norms. He claimed that the Vice-Chancellor assured them that no such restrictions were put in place.
