NRI family robbed of 1 kg of gold in Hyderabad

A Non-Resident Indian family became the latest victim of property offenders who made their way into their house at Malakpet early on Monday and decamped with a kilogram of gold and Rs.2 lakh cash, the police said.

Shaheen Sultana, (32), who lives in a duplex house at Asmangarh under Malakpet police station limits, went out with her family the previous evening and returned home at around midnight.

The family kept the balcony door leading to the bedroom open and fell asleep. “The offenders climbed the boundary wall and crept on to the terrace. They then sneaked into the bedroom and opened the cupboards with the help of keys and escaped after collecting the property,” Malakpet Detective SI, S. Naresh said.

A few members of the family were sleeping in the room when the offenders carried out the heist. On receipt of information the Malakpet police reached the spot. A CLUES team visited the spot and collected the fingerprints from the crime scene.

Chain snatched

In a separate case, two bike-borne miscreants snatched a four tola gold chain from a woman at Karmanghat early on Monday. A housewife, Laxmi (42) was sweeping the street in front of her house when the miscreants came on a motorcycle and yanked away the chain.
