NPA official passes away at Hyderabad hospital

A senior IPS officer of Karnataka cadre K. Madhukar Shetty, who was on deputation with the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) here, passed away late on Friday night following a brief illness.

The 47-year-old officer was admitted to the Continental Hospital here on Tuesday with shortness of breath and fever.

An emergency surgery was carried out for aortic dissection, but he did not recover after the surgery. The officer, who was put on the life support system, died of catastrophic illness, said Dr. Guru N. Reddy, founder, Continental Hospital.

The mortal remains of the senior officer would be flown to Bengaluru on Saturday and from there to his native place near Manguluru. The officer is survived by wife and a 10-year-old daughter.

SVPNPA director D.R. Doley Barman condoled the death of Shetty, calling him an efficient and forthright officer.
