Temporary exit routes to be laid by TRS

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has issued an advisory on Friday cautioning general public against using the Outer Ring Road on September 2, in view of Pragathi Nivedana Sabha.

Heavy traffic and congestion is expected on the ORR as an estimated 25 lakh people would attend the meeting, a press release from the HMDA said.

On behalf of the TRS party, the Whip and MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy had placed a request with the HMDA, not to collect toll from those arriving for the public meeting, and to provide additional exits for reaching Kongarakalan, Raviryal, Maheshwaram and Ibrahimpatnam villages.

HMDA Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy, after going through the request, has issued conditional permission for toll-free travel, provided that the toll amount for the day is reimbursed by the TRS party. Hence, toll would not be collected on ORR between 9 a.m. and 12 a.m. on Sunday.

However, temporary exit routes may be laid by TRS with its own expenditure, without any damage to the ORR, service roads, pedestrian paths, and trees. The proposed exits would be inspected by the HMDA officials beforehand. Sign boards directing people to the venue or to the routes, would have to be erected by the party, the Commissioner said. Tractors, trolleys and other slow-moving vehicles would not be permitted on the ORR and they would need to take the service roads instead.
