Nizam College student dies after collapsing in gym

Mild tension prevailed at Nizam College here on Thursday when a group of students staged a protest following sudden death of a former student.

P. Vijay, 21, hailing from Bheemgal mandal in Nizamabad, completed his BSc MPC last year, but was in the city to clear his final-year backlogs. On Wednesday evening, he fell unconscious while working out at Nizam College gym and he was taken to his hostel room.

Around 8.30 p.m., he collapsed again in his room and was rushed to a private clinic at Abids, from where he was shifted to Apollo Hospitals at Hyderguda, where he was declared brought dead, said K. Laxmiah, Sub-Inspector, Abids Road police station.

The police suspect that he suffered cardiac arrest.
