Three new classrooms, a computer lab, desks and an RO water plant apart from toilets were officially handed over to the ZP High School at Kukunoor in Velpur mandal by Aravind Dharmapuri Foundation and Agility Logistics on Wednesday to mark the Independence Day.

Aravind Dharmapuri Foundation and the Swiss based company, Agility Logistics, adopted the ZP High School and built the new class rooms, a computer lab, an RO water plant and toilets on the school premises.

At a function held at the village on Wednesday Mr. Aravind and BJP State executive member B. Laxminarsaiah and representatives of the company handed them over to the school. On the occasion, they also gave away textbooks, notebooks, ID cards, sports material, uniforms and sanitary napkins to girls.

Teacher salaries

Mr. Aravind told The Hindu that the Foundation was paying the salaries of three teachers appointed to teach English medium at the school.

As a result, the student strength has increased five times over a period of time. He also said that the Foundation and Agility Logistics would ensure the supply of the study material to students every year.
