After battling for over three days, Sub-Inspector of Atmakur police station in Nalgonda District, Siddaiah, died at about 4 p.m. on Tuesday while undergoing treatment for bullet wounds sustained in an exchange of fire with terror suspects.
A constable Nagaraju was killed while another Inspector Balagangi Reddy too sustained bullet injuries in the shootout at Nalgonda on Saturday morning. Both the Inspector and Siddaiah were shifted to Kamineni hospital in L.B. Nagar in Hyderabad immediately after the exchange of fire and were operated upon.
While the Inspector recuperated, the SI who, suffered three bullet wounds - one on head - died while undergoing treatment. Doctors released a bulletin at about 2 p.m. stating that the SI’s condition was deteriorating and he was put on life support system.
The SI’s wife was admitted in the same hospital for delivery. While the SI was critically injured in the exchange of fire in Nalgonda District on Saturday morning, his wife delivered a baby boy the same evening.
