Nabeel’s death: police alter case to murder

May 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated November 16, 2021 07:16 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Mirchowk police altered the case of death of Nabeel Mohammed to murder, from suspicious death, on Tuesday. The 17-year-old Intermediate student died after his friend Awais Patel punched him repeatedly in a mock-fight held in Old City on May 3.

The police invoked Sections 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) and 109 (punishment of abetment if the act abetted is committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment) r/w 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Indian Penal Code against all nine of his friends.

They are likely to be arrested on Wednesday.

The police ruled out the ‘love angle’ in the case. “We have questioned the woman. There is no link between the fight and the woman,” an investigating officer said.

The forensic doctors who conducted an on-spot post-mortem examination at Barkas graveyard on Monday opined that the death might have been caused due to internal injuries in head, chest and stomach.

The boy died within 30 seconds of receiving the blows,” the report stated.
