Karimnagar MP of TRS B. Vinod Kumar on Sunday spoke to Union Law Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda and also wrote a letter to him requesting amendment to Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Act in the coming winter session of Parliament to facilitate bifurcation of High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The MP sought immediate bifurcation of the High Court because the delay led to injustice in the appointment of judges from Telangana. Moreover, it appeared that the Supreme Court was going ahead with the appointment of judges in the existing vacancies all over the country straightaway, a release by the MP said.
He highlighted that there were 22 vacancies of judges out of a sanctioned strength of 49 for the combined High Court. There were only 6 from Telangana out of the 27 judges working at present. However, the Central government notified the strength of judges for the High Court of Telangana when it will be formed at 19. Hence, 13 more judges from Telangana should be appointed against the existing 22 vacancies. Eight of them were supposed to be from the bar and five from judiciary by way of promotion from the post of district judges. However, the common seniority of district judges in the combined State should not be followed for the elevation to the High Court from Telangana quota.
Mr. Vinod Kumar also said that two out of six judges who are native of Telangana will retire by May next year in which case 15 vacancies will accrue to the State.
