November 02, 2013 08:54 am | Updated May 28, 2016 06:58 am IST - HYDERABAD:

More surveillance cameras will be installed in the IT areas at Madhapur at a cost of Rs. 5 crore.

This decision was taken at a meeting held at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate on Friday in the wake of the recent kidnap and rape of a software engineer in Madhapur. Two car drivers were arrested in connection with the incident.

Senior officials have decided to set up a command and control centre, besides providing parking bays for APSRTC buses, cabs and autorickshaws. Use of bicycles by providing separate lanes and stands would be promoted on a large scale in coordination with the Hyderabad Bicycle Club.

An awareness campaign would be taken up on the importance of security measures. Registration of cabs and autos would be made compulsory and running of RTC bus services would be increased, a official said.
