The Kamala Mills fire: a look at how the events unfolded

Mojo’s Bistro’s Yug Tuli took refuge in city, flees

Yug Tuli, the owner of a Mumbai pub that went up in flames killing 14, sought shelter at a relative’s house in Hyderabad earlier this week, before he gave cops the slip.

Senior police sources say Tuli, the owner of Mojo’s Bistro in Kamala Mills compound, had driven to the city after fleeing Mumbai and arrived at a relative’s place near K.B.R. Park in Jubilee Hills, where he stayed for a few days.

On learning about his plans, Mumbai police followed him to the city and alerted the Hyderabad police.

Suspecting he may exit Hyderabad through the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, the police rushed to the airport but missed nabbing him. Police suspect he may have fled to Amritsar.

Police aid suspected

Sources say it is not known how he may have left the city as there is no indication of him taking a flight at RGIA. Cops also suspect Tuli may have attempted to seek assistance from another police official working in the city.

However, when Jubilee Hills Inspector K. Purnachander was contacted for details of Tuli’s stay and his relatives in the city, he denied receipt of any information.

Culpable homicide

Yug Tuli is being charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the case of a massive fire that claimed 14 lives on December 28 last year, in the Lower Parel area of Mumbai.

Interestingly, images of Tuli captured by CCTV camera purportedly at RGIA were doing the rounds on social media on Wednesday.
