MMTC to hold expo from Nov. 1

Indian gold coins, MMTC medallions and Sanchi silverware to be showcased

The Government of India enterprise MMTC Ltd would organise an exhibition-cum-sale of gold jewellery, Indian gold coins, MMTC gold/silver medallions and Sanchi silverware on the occasion of Dasara from November 1to 6 at its showroom on S.D. Road in Secunderabad.

Giving details of the proposed exhibition, a release from the company said Indian gold coin is the first-ever national gold sovereign offered by the Indian government. The MMTC was mandated to introduce the Indian gold coin, which is of 24 karat purity, 999 fineness and has the national emblem of Ashok Chakra engraved on one side and the face of Mahatma Gandhi on the other. They are available in denominations of 5, 10 and 20 gm bullion respectively.

The coin carries advance anti-counterfeit features and comes in tamper-proof packaging. They are minted by the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Ltd and hallmarked by the Bureau of Indian Standards. The World Gold Council is the marketing associate in the venture to create awareness on the coin. The coins are currently available at MMTC showrooms and select branches of Indian Overseas Bank, Andhra Bank, Vijaya Bank, HDFC Bank, Yes Bank, ICICI Bank and Federal Bank.

The gold jewellery to be showcased would be part of MMTC’s hallmarked jewellery collection and comprise pendants, earrings, finger rings, bangles, bracelets and necklace sets.

The gold/silver medallions would be from MMTC’s own medallion unit that makes medallions/bars ranging from 1 gm to 50 gm in gold and 10 gm to 1 kg in silver. The medallions come in tamper-proof laminated packaging and certified for purity and weight. The gold and silver medallions are of 999 purity.
